The Caedmon Poetry Collection A Century of Poets Reading Their Work CD Audio Book

The Caedmon Poetry Collection A Century of Poets Reading Their Work CD Audio Book

The Caedmon Poetry Collection A Century of Poets Reading Their Work 3 CDs (unabridged)

Readers: Various

No library or teacher or lover of poetry should be without this fine compilation of Caedmon's extensive backlist of twentieth-century poets reading their work. Many are familiar selections; all are significant recordings--Eliot reading THE WASTELAND, Thomas reading FERN HILL and DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT rare recordings by Yeats, Pound, Plath, Neruda. The sequence is neither chronological nor national, but seems ordered by a fine ear for accents, moods, and peculiarities of voice. For example, Williams, Cummings, Brodsky, Frost, Walcott, Moore, and Spender follow one another, a beguiling and playful sequence of accents and styles that minimizes historical differences and heightens the uniqueness of each poet. Poets rarely make the best readers of their own poetry, and often are not even the best interpreters of it; but always the voice of the poet adds something to our understanding of a poem. These 44 poems are, if not all the best of the last century, easily as great as or greater than any 44 others anyone could assemble. Together they comprise a treasure, a constant surprise and revelation, and an unparalleled listening experience.

We have a huge range of audio books, but if you can't find what you are looking for, please email us. We can obtain almost any audiobook title on CDcassette & MP3

The huge range of audio books on offer at Audio Books at Audio Book Bargains means that you are always guaranteed to find great audio books to listen to. Here we have cassettesCDs & MP3 audio books,  We have many, many authors that are hard to find in unabridged, cover to cover format. We have designed the site to make browsing for audio books as easy as possible.

Why listen to audio books?  In today's busy world, finding time to sit down to read for most people is very difficult. With audio books, "reading" can be done whilst driving, ironing, cooking, jogging. In fact just about at any time. Revisit some classics - Jane Eyre. Or listen to the latest Clive Cussler.

For children, audio books are a way to get children loving books from an early age. It is well known that children that read do better at school. When studying for GCSEs, many parents have realised how much listening to Of Mice and Men or To Kill a Mockingbird audio books can help in exam preparation.

Of course people with visual impairment derive huge pleasure from audio books, but so too do people who do a large amount of travelling. Particularly drivers who cover large distances. Reading is of course not an option!
